The Silver Lining

By AlysEdwards | 5/17/2023

Silver is said to draw out the negative energy and replace it with the positive. Walking into a room should make you feel the same way; refreshed and renewed. Silver has all the characteristics of gray, but with more fun! Using a porcelain tile that mimics natural stone, like Terra Dolce's Grigio, is a low maintenance and durable way to achieve a high end look. On the other hand, if you are looking for a natural stone, pattern play with I'm Always Right Triangle to create visual interest. Brighten things up by using a crisp white like the gloss or matte finish available in Tongue in Chic's You Don't Snow Me or the White Lie from the Noise collection. The linear movement of the 12 x 36 wall tile can elongate a ceiling and positively open a space. To avoid a sterile look warm up your space with complementing textiles and textures like the Volpe tumbled or the wood look plank of the Basic B. Accenting with silver  hardware will pull together a sleek design. Polished finishes will give you a modern vibe, while matte finishes will lean more transitional. So what's the silver lining? By using these tips it will help you design a more sophisticated play on gray.

Looking Through the Sea Glass

By AlysEdwards | 5/17/2023

With vacations turning into staycations, homes are becoming a more important part of our everyday lives. When designing your in-home retreat consider pulling inspiration from your favorite sea side. Pairing a crisp white wall tile, like Noise, with a veined white stone, like Calacatta, allows for a bright clean space without the fear of looking sterile. The taupe and gold veins of Calacatta Oro bring in warm colors that help to balance out the starkness of the white. Opting for a wood grained cabinet not only ties back into the veining of the stone it also brings in sandy tones, maybe reminiscent of your favorite beach? Pull tones of sea glass with accent colors like the Oleastro wall tile from Abitare La Terra or the Honeycombs from Half Baked. Adding a patterned tile like the Iberian Aqua from the Crio collection or a dimensional tile like Teal the Timer Rings can also create visual interest! Are we there yet ?? Almost... round out your design with trinkets from your travels like sea glass beads. Lastly, don’t forget to light your favorite candle and sit back, relax, and drift away...

Warming Classics

By AlysEdwards | 5/17/2023

Timeless and versatile, black and white are classic colors that can be used in many design styles. When creating a feature wall consider using the pillowed chevron from the Apex Stone collection. Install it alone or glam it up by inserting the Sassy Brassy Liner to add a warm metal element. Adding the color black to a room can help ground it; however, if you’re looking for something less bold try London Calling’s Lost the Plot mosaic. This white marble with wispy gray veins can add visual interest in both the pattern of the mosaic and the movement of the stone.  Selecting a wall tile like the Tongue in Chic or the Abitare La Terra for a backsplash, wainscot, or shower wall keeps your design simple yet sophisticated. Using a pattern like The Adventurist from the Feel collection adds and unexpected twist to your space and the durability of this porcelain makes it a great option with easy care. Lastly, soften your space up with earth toned woods to bringing in warmth and plants to bring in greenery. No matter how you use these colors, the possibilities are endless.

Modern Beige

By AlysEdwards | 5/17/2023

When most people think of beige they think of an old, out of date color. We’ve really been living in grey all the way the past decade, but beige is back in big ways. It has evolved into a modern neutral that can go warm or cool and fit a variety of design styles. The 2x8 Coalino wall tile in the Abitare La Terra is a great mixture of a warm color with cool undertones. Combine it with a bright white like You Don’t Snow Me to make the beige color go from the background to the forefront of your design. The soft tumbled edges of the Suave Due Lynx make for a great mud room or laundry room floor. The neutral color of the stone is the perfect background for the rich chocolaty veins, which also provide a unique visual interest. Don’t Be a Shell Out, from Tongue in Chic, is a flexible color that can work in many different settings. Try using the 5x5 offset in backsplash or, pair it with the other available sizes to design a fun pattern on a shower or feature wall. Whichever you choose, beige is back and with its modern makeover it is sure to be a great color selection for your next design.
